Next Rally

The Rally went great, with over 40 students sharing their faith and fellowship. The mattress race was a team effort, learning you must work together to pull out a win. The human foose ball is always a big "hit" Also showing that without a team working together, it's hard to win.

After reviewing the youth group with much thought and prayer, we've come to the decision that for the youth group to grow and expand, we must make some changes. First we're going to need your help. We need an Adult Team Leadership Community consisting of 5-6 adult leaders and also a Teen Leadership Community of 5-6 high school or college students. This will be our core and will meet once a month for planning events, etc. This is a great way for you to share in the growth and development of our youth. It's also a way to give back for all the blessings you have received. We also would like all students who come to the monthly rallies to also sign the form in the bulletin.

Many of you have heard the phrase "The youth are the future of the church." However, we believe the youth are the living church of today and want to share the Word of God. Working with some of our key youth group students, we've come up with a name and a mission that we feel fits who we are. The name is YAFC (pronounced yaf-k) which stands for Young Apostles For Christ.

Our mission will cover the 5 things that Jesus stated in the Great Commandment, (Matt. 22:37-40) and the Great Commission, (Matt. 28:19-20) and they are: Worship (honor), Minister (discover), Evangelize (reach), Fellowship (connect) and Discipleship (grow). Our statement to the church and community will be:

"Our youth ministry exists to Reach non-believing students, to Connect them with other Christians, to help them Grow in their faith and help them Discover their ministry and Honor God with their lives."

The youth group will have 5 ministries within the youth group:

1). The Rally - once a month on the 3rd Saturday night we will get together to celebrate the works of YAFC. This will be used to bring new students so they can experience the fun and excitement we have in our love of Christ.

2). CCYT Theatre - Plan to have two major plays a year plus smaller skits and short plays that can be performed at the monthly rallies, community centers/retirements homes/hospitals and other local churches.

3). Music Ministry - consists of a youth choir, band, and dancers. Will sing at masses, concerts and also reach out to the community.

4). "Helping Hands" - church ministry helping around the church with chores, passing out bulletins, etc.

5). Athletes for Christ - will play various sports against other youth/charity groups in the area. Will also make visits to hospitals, etc.

These are our plans. Now it's up to you if we can proceed. If you would like to help us out or want to become a part of this awesome group, please complete the form in this week's bulletin.
